all that dreaming paid off, look!

the wheat sprouted last week

despite the heat

all we feel is honour,

here,

at the systems already in place

and gratitude for the hard working garden crew

(Dewan, Kieran, Angela and others)

who work and grow

even in the furnace of an Okanagan summer,

thank-you

for the wheat

Canadian wheat has an uphill battle these days, including:

Federal port transportation problems
Ottawa has taken Canadian wheat breeding away from farmers, and handed over the genetic data to the private sector.
Up until now, Canada has held an excellent reputation in world wheat.
And other inconsistencies.

Furthermore, the word-wide wheat shortage reached the UK in 2012.
